How Freelance Writing Has Changed, & Why Editors Get What They Pay For

If you’re not in the freelance writing business, you might not know how much it’s changed. But oh, how it has changed.Check out this American Society of Business Publication Editors blog post, in which “ASBPE award winning freelance writer Tam Harbert explains why even in the age of content farms and $15 fees for articles, trade publications get exactly what they pay for when it comes to hiring editorial talent.”

Interesting link, I had no idea that things have sunk this low in publishing. I guess in some ways it’s a lot like the music business….

It’s easy to see how the web has had a real negative effect on humanity in some ways. I see the positive side of it less and less. Fortunes are being made at aol, google, and ebay, but obviously, that money has not come out of thin air.

  2. As a self-published author, whose book titled “They Cooked the Books, A humorous Look At The World of White-Collar Crime” published date July 15, 2011),I was impressed with Leslie’s copy editing skills. She varified every example of over 100 expressions and over 120 qrotes used im my book, which was a daunting task for sure.

I wholehartedly attest to the professionalism and expertice of Leslie as a copy editor and the project was finished in record time. As a local Hilo publisher, I would not hesitate in recommending Leslie in all facits of your project.
